A Simpang Jeram native known as Awang, Arshed Yahya is a farm and livestock manager and catering operator; assistant secretary of PAS's Bakri division and the party's coordinator for the Simpang Jeram seat, with grassroots work spanning family and elderly welfare, youth skills, and support for small traders.
Background
- A native of Simpang Jeram, born and raised in the local community; known as Awang, campaigning under the tagline #AwangAnakJeram.[1][2]
- Education: SPM at SMK Dato Sri Amar Diraja (1982-1986) and STPM at Maktab Adabi Muar (1993-1995).[2]
- Works as a farm and livestock manager and runs a catering services business.[2]
- Over two decades of PAS service: youth chief of the PAS Pagoh division youth wing (2005), deputy head of the PAS Bakri division (2015), assistant secretary of the PAS Bakri division and vice-head of the PAS Jeram Masjid branch (both since 2018), and PAS Bakri's coordinator for the Simpang Jeram seat (2025-2027).[2]
- Community involvement: deputy chairman of the Johor Haraki Entrepreneurs Club, coordinator of the Economy, Property and Entrepreneur Development Association, coordinator of the Muar Agricultural Entrepreneurs Association, and welfare committee member of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Muafakat Bakri (Muafakat Care).[2]
- In March 2020 he took part in PAS Bakri welfare work during the Movement Control Order (MCO), distributing basic kitchen supplies to residents whose income was affected.[3]
- A Perikatan Nasional candidate on a PAS ticket; announced on 25 June 2026 in Muar as one of PAS's 11 candidates.[1][4]
- Runs on clean, year-round grassroots service: welfare for families, the elderly and the needy, youth development through sports and skills, and support for small traders and local entrepreneurs.[1]
