Ruban Arumugam

Background

• A medical doctor; born and raised in Klang in a poor family with eleven younger siblings.[1]
• Schooled at ACS Klang and completed his medical degree in Russia over six years.[1]
• Worked as a houseman at a university hospital and Hospital Raub, then as a doctor at Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom, Kluang (2018-2020) and KPJ Batu Pahat Specialist Hospital (2020-2021); now runs the Shasta polyclinics in Kluang and Paloh, and is based in Kluang, his grandfather's hometown.[1][2]
• A member of the DAP Johor State Executive Committee since October 2024 and Pakatan Harapan's coordinator for the Paloh seat.[2]
• Entered politics after confronting a ventilator shortage while trying to save a newborn, to push for health-system reform so every patient gets proper facilities; backs Anwar Ibrahim's reform agenda.[1]
