Mohd Azahar Ibrahim

Known as 'Tok Ai', Mohd Azahar Ibrahim is a former land administrator and UMNO Labis division chief who won the 2011 Tenang by-election and served two terms as Tenang assemblyman (2011-2018); he is now an independent non-executive director of Boustead Plantations Berhad and a UTM board member, contesting Tenang again in 2026.

Background

  • Holds a Bachelor of Political Science (Hons) from the University of Portsmouth, UK (1996) and a Diploma in Public Administration from ITM.[1]
  • A career land administrator: assistant land administrator in Kluang (1997-2000) and Segamat (2000-2006), then Rengit assistant district officer (2006-2011), followed by various Johor state government posts (2012-2018).[1]
  • UMNO Labis division chief and a former Labis UMNO Youth treasurer; won the 2013 general election and served as Tenang assemblyman for two terms (2011-2018).[2]
  • Won the 2011 Tenang by-election for BN with 69% of the vote (majority 3,707), defeating PAS's Normala Sudirman.[3]
  • Independent non-executive director of Boustead Plantations Berhad, effective 5 August 2022.[1][4]
  • Appointed to the Board of Directors of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), effective 26 March 2025.[5]
  • WHIP chief of the Labis District Council; awarded the Pingat Sultan Ibrahim second class (PSI II) by the Sultan of Johor on 20 June 2026.[6]
  • Son of Ibrahim Daud, a former Tenang assemblyman; he faces Normala Sudirman again in 2026, a rematch of their 2011 contest.[7][3]
  • Known as 'Tok Ai', a childhood nickname derived from his late father's standing as a village head; married to Tuty Roshizana Tumin, with three children.[8]
